These are care instructions for products with epoxy resin.

What is "epoxy resin"?

Epoxy resins are a kind of plastic that are very hard when dried. They can be colored with various pigments, and they can have materials like gold flake floated inside them. Artists that work with epoxy resin pour it in liquid format into various molds and forms, and manipulate it at various stages of hardness to give effects. Once the curing process is complete, the epoxy resin material is very durable and can be translucent.

How does epoxy resin change over time? Will it weather well?

Over time, epoxy resin pieces can acquire discoloration, especially if exposed to sunlight because of the UV radiation that changes the nature of the epoxy resin. At MODxMOD FURNISHINGS we suggest that changes to the pieces are part of their natural progression much like patina on metal or wood. However, you can preserve the beauty of your art following some simple care guidlines:

Care guidelines for epoxy resin pieces

Avoid direct sunlight

We recommend placement away from windows. Extended exposure may affect the clear epoxy more noticeably.

Avoid heat sources

We recommend placement away from radiators, heaters, or stoves. High temperatures may warm the artwork. Direct sunlight can make the artwork very hot and affect the epoxy resin.

Avoid dropping or hard impacts

Our artists use of epoxy resin is durable, but it may be scratched or chipped.

Avoid sharp objects

Please be mindful when placing or handling objects near your artwork. Sharp objects may scratch the surface, including rings and bracelets.

Clean gently

We recommend a soft lint-free microfiber cloth that is lightly dampened with water. Do not use abrasive cleaners or hard chemicals. A light bit of dish soap may be appropriate.
